Plain offers a Web App, not a native download
Short answer: the official option is a Web App; no native store download was linked when checked. On 2026-10-25 the FAQ at playplain.app said Plain works as an app from the browser, and told iPhone users to use Add to Home Screen and Chrome users to use Install app. I found no App Store or Play Store link on the official site. Searching the Play Store for "Plain" surfaces PlainApp, which is a different project.
iPhone
- Open Safari and go to playplain.app.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Apple's guide calls this bookmarking a website to the Home Screen.
- Open the new icon. The manifest requests portrait and standalone display, so it can hide Safari's chrome. It is still the website.
Android
- Open Chrome and go to playplain.app.
- Use the Install app prompt, or the menu item Chrome documents for installing a web page.
- Do not install the Play listing named Plain unless you wanted PlainApp. Check the package name com.ismartcoding.plain if you are unsure.

What the Web App does not do
- It does not unlock an unlimited mode. That claim is answered on its own page.
- It does not let you replay yesterday for a score.
- It does not need the email argument. The FAQ and the privacy policy disagree about whether an optional account stores an email. We are not repeating either sentence as the whole story. Guest play is enough.

Questions this page answers
What is PlainApp?
PlainApp (package com.ismartcoding.plain, site plainapp.app) is an open-source Android tool that opens your phone in a browser on the same network. It is not the daily game at playplain.app. We are not linking a store button for it.
Does the shortcut work offline?
The official FAQ does not say the puzzle is available offline. You still need the site to load the day's prompts.
