Privacy policy
This policy describes playplain.net only. It was checked against the built pages on 2026-10-25. The game at playplain.app has its own privacy policy. We do not operate that site.
Who to contact
The site is operated by the editors of PlayPlain.net. Email [email protected] for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of email you sent us. We reply from that address.
What loads, and when
These pages are static HTML, CSS, images and self-hosted font files. They also load three third-party services, named one by one below: Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, and Adsterra. There is no AdSense, no Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, no traffic-mesh banner SDK and no Cloudflare Insights script on this site.
Default load: if you have no stored choice and your browser does not send Global Privacy Control, the page records granted and loads GA4, Clarity and Adsterra on the first view. The cookie banner still appears so you can withdraw. Pressing Reject writes a denied record, turns the advertising and analytics signals off, removes the Adsterra scripts and floating bar, asks Clarity to stop, disables the GA4 tag, and reloads the page to discard already-executed vendor code. That record lasts 180 days. Pressing Accept is only needed after a rejection.
If navigator.globalPrivacyControl is true, or Do Not Track reports 1, the page records denied before any third-party script is requested and does not show the banner. There is no gate that waits for Accept before loading these scripts: the banner is notice and withdrawal, not a permission dialog. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the banner at any time.
The default-on setting is not affirmative consent: the initial granted record describes this site’s loading preference, not a click on Accept. Reject withdraws that preference. We rely on legitimate interests to deliver these static pages and answer correspondence. Where local law requires prior opt-in for non-essential tracking, this default-on setting must not be represented as satisfying that requirement.
Google Analytics 4
Property: website_182_gameinfo_playplain.net, Measurement ID G-9Y5E4Q2ZT4. GA4 is loaded from https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js and runs from the first view. It sends page views and basic interaction events to Google. Its observed hosts are www.googletagmanager.com and www.google-analytics.com. The tag runs after a Consent Mode v2 default block in the page head; that block starts with analytics granted and the three advertising signals denied, and Reject updates all four to denied.
Cookies: _ga (up to 2 years) and _ga_9Y5E4Q2ZT4 (up to 2 years) distinguish browsers and sessions. This site stores no GA identifier in localStorage. Cookie lifetime is controlled by Google. We have not verified a property-specific event-data retention period or Google Signals setting, so do not claim either here. This site does not send your contact email in GA4 events. Opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or by pressing Reject.
Microsoft Clarity
Project: z32fblsjc9. Clarity records pseudonymous sessions (mouse movement, clicks, scroll depth and page timing) and builds heatmaps so layout problems can be found. Form inputs and other sensitive content are masked by Clarity's default masking. The site loader creates the tag from https://www.clarity.ms/tag/z32fblsjc9 on the first view. Observed requests also include scripts.clarity.ms and regional collection hosts such as a.clarity.ms through z.clarity.ms; Microsoft may use c.clarity.ms and c.bing.com for its documented cookies. The served HTML contains no Clarity <script src>.
Cookies and storage: _clck (12 months) identifies a browser across sessions; _clsk (1 day) groups a visit into one recording; Microsoft documents 30 days for normal playback data and 9 months for heatmap/click data and labeled or favorited sessions. We do not connect recordings to an email address. Pressing Reject sends denied through the consentv2 API, stops Clarity and reloads into a document that requests no tracking scripts. See Microsoft’s retention documentation. Microsoft's privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Adsterra advertising
Network: Adsterra, publisher 3403020, website 6148790. Two units are placed: NativeBanner_1 (unit 31910731), an in-feed widget, and SocialBar_1 (unit 31910732), the floating bar at the bottom of the page. Adult ads are switched off in the Adsterra panel. We do not run Popunder, Banner or Smartlink units, and no other ad network is present on this site.
The units are created by the site loader from https://bicea.org/… on the first view; the served HTML contains no ad script tag. Adsterra and the placement host bicea.org set their own cookies and localStorage entries on their domains for frequency capping, fraud prevention, measurement and click attribution. We do not set those vendor cookies from playplain.net, and their names can change; the authoritative list is Adsterra's privacy policy at adsterra.com/privacy-policy.
This site stores one local key for the floating bar: pp_socialbar_closed, a timestamp kept for 180 days so a bar you hid does not return on the next page view. It contains no identifier. The bar is capped to the viewport width (max-width:100vw, box-sizing:border-box, overflow:hidden) and the page reserves bottom padding while it is open.
Personalised advertising: Adsterra may use cookie data to choose creatives. You can withdraw here with Reject or Cookie settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising across participating companies at Google Ads Settings, DAA opt-out, and Your Online Choices. Opting out does not stop ads; it stops them being personalised.
Storage keys, cookies and retention
This table lists what this site and the services it loads write in a normal visit. GA4 and Clarity can set first-party cookies on this site as well as use vendor-domain cookies. Third-party ad storage and its retention are controlled by the vendor.
| Key or cookie | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| pp.consent.v1 | This site (localStorage) | Your granted or denied choice, with a timestamp | 180 days |
| pp_socialbar_closed | This site (localStorage) | Timestamp of hiding the floating Adsterra bar | 180 days |
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguish browsers for aggregate traffic | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_9Y5E4Q2ZT4 | Google Analytics 4 | Session and campaign attribution for this property | Up to 2 years |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Identify a browser across sessions | 12 months |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Group a visit into one recording | 1 day |
| Adsterra vendor cookies | Adsterra / bicea.org | Frequency capping, fraud prevention, attribution | Per Adsterra policy |
Consent choice
Key pp.consent.v1 in localStorage. Value: JSON with choice (granted or denied), ts (milliseconds), and v. Kept for 180 days, then treated as missing. Purpose: remember whether you rejected advertising and analytics. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in not asking on every page, and in honoring a refusal. You can delete the key in your browser, or reopen the banner with Cookie settings.
When a record is missing and GPC is off, the page runs the accept path: it writes granted, loads the three services, and shows the banner. Accept leaves that record. Reject writes denied, updates the four consent signals to denied, removes the Clarity and Adsterra scripts and the floating bar, and disables the GA4 tag, and reloads into a tracking-free document. A saved Reject prevents all three loaders on subsequent page visits until it expires or you Accept. After 180 days the record expires and the banner offers the choice again.
Mail to [email protected] includes whatever you put in it, plus the usual headers (your address, time, IP as the mail system logs it). Purpose: answer you. Legal basis: steps you asked for, and our legitimate interest in keeping a record of the answer. We keep a thread until the question is finished and for up to 24 months after the last message, then delete it unless we have to keep it for a legal claim.
Embedded media and outbound links
The short explainer is an MP4 file on this domain. It loads only after you press play. It is not a YouTube embed and no YouTube request is made. We do not embed the game. Links to playplain.app, YouTube, Apple, Spotify or another site in a source list are ordinary links: the destination sets its own cookies under its own policy when you follow one. We do not see them. No third-party media or game iframe is included by this site; advertising scripts may create their own frames when ads are enabled.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and a portable copy of the email thread. You can complain to your data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for using a right. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The guide is written for people who play a daily puzzle.
Changes
If we add another analytics ID, ad unit, or session-replay project, this page will name the provider, the purpose, the cookie or storage keys, the retention, and the legal basis before or when the script ships. The date on this page (2026-10-25) is the date of the text. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the banner.
